My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello! My name is Cole and I am an 8-month-old neutered male Chihuahua mix. I weigh about 10 pounds

I'm not sure what you're looking for in a pup, but if it's resilience, determination, and a heart full of love, then you have come to the right place my friend!

My human companions describe me as being sweet, happy, and loyal. I absolutely love to snuggle & I'm great with kids & adults alike. Nothing pleases me more than to curl up into someone's lap and take a nap. My dog friends just say I'm fun and that I make an excellent pillow during our siestas!

Just so you are aware, if you have feline companions, I probably wouldn't be the best match for you. I don't really care for kitties much and I'm not that friendly towards them.

Here's how I ended up in need of a forever home:

Believe it or not, I had a previous family. I only lived with them for a couple of months, but I felt like I belonged there. I never expected that my time with them would end so soon. Once you have a home it's supposed to be forever, right? I thought that families stick together through thick and thin? Imagine my surprise when my family dumped me at a high-kill shelter and never looked back.

If you've watched my video, you may have noticed that one of my legs doesn't work. This is just a guess, but my friends are pretty sure that my family no longer wanted me because I was "damaged." It wouldn't be the first time a pup was abandoned after an injury had occurred. It actually happens more often than you could imagine.

Thankfully, I only spent one night at the shelter. CageFree rescued me and immediately sent me to see a specialist. My doctor said that I had probably injured my Brachial Plexus, which is a set of nerves in my shoulder. She said she sees this a lot in dogs that have been hit by a car and she suspects that that is what happened to me. Due to the nerve damage, my leg was completely useless - I couldn't feel or use it at all! So I had surgery on January 29th & my leg was amputated. I'm now recovering from my surgery & I'm doing really well already! I'm up & about, running around like any puppy would, but on 3 legs instead of 4!

So now you know a little bit about me. What would you say if I asked you to adopt me? If you're considering it, please don't hesitate to contact CageFree and tell them you want to meet me!
