My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

If you’re looking for a sweet, laid-back dog that is beautiful, affectionate, and doesn’t bark (at all!), you need to meet Lacey! A Border Collie mix about two years old, Lacey would love to have a forever family with a yard and kids to play with.

Lacey has not been around toddlers yet, but she has a non-aggressive temperament and is great with older children. She is also feline-friendly and gets along well with her foster dad’s cats.

Some of her favorite indoor activities include rolling over for a tummy rub, curling up on the sofa and bed with her human friends and receiving lots of hugs and kisses. She also loves to be brushed and is a great dog when it’s bath time – she doesn’t even mind the hair dryer.

Lacey is totally housebroken, spayed, heartworm negative, and is up to date on all shots and heartworm and flea preventative. She had FHO surgery in January to correct a hip injury that the vet thinks was caused when she was hit by a car. She has recovered from her surgery and has not looked back! She does have a slight limp sometimes, but this does not keep her from enjoying walks and playtime.

We adopt dogs from Memphis Animal Shelter when we can. The shelter has an 83% euthanasia rate, one of the highest in the country. Unfortunately, any dog coming from Memphis Animal Shelter, and most other shelters for that matter, will have been in contact with contagious illness. Even though the dogs have been in foster care and appear to be in good health, they may become stressed when changing environments and exhibit signs and symptoms of illness. If you have other pets, they need to be up to date on vaccines before bringing a shelter dog into your home. We will take the adopted animal back, but we are not responsible for your other animal's vet care. We always disclose where the dogs have come from. Please ask for any information about the dogs and exercise due caution if you have immunocompromised animals.
