Murray's Story...
Meet Murray! He's a one year old Border Collie mix that's as sweet as can be. Murray was recently adopted and returned. The family said he was a great dog but was having some separation anxiety when no one was home. He's a smart boy with lots of energy. Border Collies are always happier when they're kept busy. Murray would be a great agility or fly-ball dog and even a running or walking partner. He likes kids but is a little too active for young ones. He lived with a cat in his first home and tolerated it. Dogs at the shelter don't seem to bother him. Murray would flourish in a home where someone was home most of the time. He would also love a fenced in yard. Be careful when visiting. He's so excited to get out of his cage he may bolt. Hold on tight...once out for awhile he calms down and is a cuddle monkey.

If you have kids and/or another dog in your family and are interested in adopting a Friendship dog please bring them with you for a meet and greet. No appointment is necessary. Stop by anytime during regular business hours.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Murray, a Elyria Border Collie dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Border Collie for sale in Elyria, or seeking a Border Collie dog from a breeder in Elyria.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Elyria already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Elyria breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Border Collie breeders who help with Border Collie rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Elyria paves the way for another one to be saved.
