My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet our sweet Fiona! This adorable and very unique girl was rescued from another rescue group. She was one of 6 dogs that Reggie’s Friends took into our program when another group closed down. She and many of her companions were at risk of going to the local city shelter, but we were thrilled to welcome them into our loving care. Fiona is a Labrador mix, estimated at 1 year old and 45 pounds.

Fiona was actually born into that previous rescue and spent her whole life there, so she hasn’t had much exposure to this great big world yet. She only socialized with the small staff and the dogs that were also in the program, so we knew we wanted to show her what life is all about…love and fun.
She has gone from a reserved, timid girl to a thriving, bouncy, playful lady who is just eager to meet her next playmate and friend in just 2 short weeks with us. She warms up and gains trust with her new people quickly and will follow you on every adventure you take. She’s been giving and taking lots of kisses lately to show her appreciation for this new life. She’s done this well with us and we can just imagine how much she’ll open up with her new family.

She is also great with other new dogs and since she’s used to having dogs around her, she would ideally want a canine companion or two in her new family as well! She has proven to be very social with new dogs despite her beginning and very much enjoys running through the play yard with them. She doesn't seem to mind cats thus far, but it’s doubtful that she knew any prior to the ones she has met recently.

Fiona has a very interesting look too that will get all kinds of attention. She looks like a Chocolate Labrador, but is half the height! She’s very unique and we think she’s just adorable! Her bright white spot on her chest is eye catching while the rest of her coat is a deep, dark brown. Her beautiful amber eyes are full of excitement for this new life. Although her body is short, she’s not limited in any way…she’s got the build for hiking, running and lots of activities. It’s too cold to try the pool right now, so we will have to find that out later.

She is crate trained, housebroken and walks well on her leash. She is still learning her basic commands, but with a little time and effort, this girl will have those down. She is very food motivated, so that will make training a snap. This girl just needs a little patience and help learning the house rules. She’s great with people, but because she’s never been around kids before, it might be best if she joins a family that has kids that are old enough to understand her needs.

You can definitely see how thankful she is to finally get her turn to shine. Fiona is going to make her new family incredibly happy with her loyal nature and silly antics. She is available for adoption now. She’s spayed, up to date on vaccines, microchipped, temperament tested and very healthy.
Fiona’s being fostered in Houston, Texas. She is available for out of state adoption and her adoption fee is $450 which covers her vetting, airline flight, travel kennel, comfy bed and required travel papers. Please email adoptions@reggiesfriends.org if you have any questions or if you think this sweet girl is your next best friend.
