Boomer's Story...
Meet Boomer an energetic 7 year old male black retriever mix! He likes to proudly greet you with his stuffed toys and tennis balls after you have had a long day at the office. After a little game of keep away, he will play fetch with you for a bit until he gets distracted. Boomer plops down on the floor or closest dog bed when he is ready for a nap or bedtime. When he gets excited, he does a little happy dance. Loud noises tend to scare him, so he will hide under the bed until he feels safe again. He has knowledge of basic commands - such as sit and shake, and walks nicely on the leash. Boomer enjoys sunbathing on the patio or deck on nice days and gets along well with his foster siblings.

Boomer is HW positive and has received HW treatment. He will need to be kept calm and quiet, with no running or cardio for 30 days post treatment. Boomer will also need a follow up blood test in 6 months. Both his treatment and his blood test are paid for by GRFR at one of our contracted vets. Boomer's forever family will need to be sure he takes a monthly heartworm preventative year round. Some people might be leery of a dog like Boomer who has had heartworm, but there is no need to be. It is both curable and preventable.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Boomer, a Denver Golden Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Golden Retriever for sale in Denver, or seeking a Golden Retriever dog from a breeder in Denver.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Denver already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Denver breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Golden Retriever breeders who help with Golden Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Denver paves the way for another one to be saved.
