My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello. My name is Wally and I am a very handsome three year old bulldog. I have had a very rough time in my short years and am hoping that the rest of my life will be much, much better. I was turned into a shelter in Kentucky last year and the only information they knew was that I had been hit by a car. I was adopted but the other dog in the home did not like me and hurt me, so I was given to another family who allowed their kids to jump on me and ride me. They really hurt me so I had to protect myself because no one else was and I bit one of those kids. That is when Chicago English Bulldog Rescue was called and a wonderful man drove through the night and saved my life.
I was pretty scared and nervous at first and I needed to learn to trust people again. I have settled into my foster home and feel like a new dog after four months of care and love. I got a full evaluation for my back and joints by the nicest people who my foster mom says are experts in physical rehabilitation and pain management. I just know that they treat me like a king and I do exercises, get massages, acupuncture and my favorite, hydrotherapy. Walking in a water tank with toys and treats is so much fun! Everyone has been amazed at my progress and I am moving around without pain, following my foster mom everywhere and I even go around the block and meet people on my walks. I do my exercises at home now and just may need some periodic “tune ups” in the future.
So what else have I learned? I love toys and want to have one with me most of the time. I trust that my foster parents will not take it away from me and I am learning to play with them. I am really smart and have completely figured out the routine and even how to sneak upstairs which I think is funny. I love to get pets but am still a little afraid of being hurt again. I am fine to getting my eye drops as long as I get a treat after and continue to be comfortable settling down in my crate for a long nap. Soft beds are a must by the way. And I have decided that laps are nice and soft also, especially when I get a butt rubs as well. I am a really good boy about going potty outside and give a good signal when I have to go.
My perfect family is a quiet one who will allow me to settle in slowly and will allow me to lead the way into a trusting relationship. They will protect me from children and aggressive dogs. I will need daily eye drops and a high quality diet, as well as daily pain medication and joint supplements. I need a family who will do my exercises with me, honestly they are fun! In return, I promise to be handsome, silly and loving and give you my heart forever.
Are you my family?
With Hope,
Wally
