Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Shakita is a 1 year old, 49 pound Lab/Shar Pei mix. Shakita and another dog were surrendered to a Kentucky shelter by someone that said he had taken on too many dogs and was in way over his head.
Shakita was obviously traumatized by the move and the transport here as she was shy and withdrawn the first day she arrived. Shakita has adjusted extremely well and is now active, playful and loving her new daily routine. She plays well with both male and female dogs and adores anyone that will give her some attention.
Shakita is intelligent and a fast learner. She loves her food so teaching her basic commands was a breeze.
I don't think Shakita had the best start in life - at just 1 year old, she already has calloused elbows suggesting she spent a lot of time on concrete. This sweet creature deserves so much more. Anyone willing to give her the love and attention she craves will have a loyal companion for life.
