My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hellllloooooo beagle lovers! My name is Tommy, Tom Collins, the Kissing Bandit, Tommy Boy, Baby, Stop That, and Drop That. You get the idea! I'm 29 lbs of sweet energy and mischief. I come from southern Illinois and my vet records aren’t quite sure how old I am. One vet said 2 years and another said 5 1⁄2 years. Based on my energy levels and my knack for finding trouble, my foster mama thinks I’m on the younger side of those two ages.

I love to steal things and take them for walks. Running with toilet paper is great fun and socks are the best! While I’m a tad bit energetic, I’m pretty good at stopping when you tell me to, and more often than not, I’ll come when you call me. Mom and Dad have had lots of foster beagles, and they think I’m on the easier side; I’m just young and love to play, but I do well with regular exercise like long walks or running in the yard. I don’t bark often, but when I do, it’s loud, so I wouldn’t do well in an apartment or condo. I also have an aroo that I use to try and entice others to play.

I do really well with the other dogs in the house. The alpha female and I will play when she’s in the mood, but I leave her alone when she growls at me. The older beagle and I will hang out together, but he’s not really interested in playing even though I’ve tried. I can be a little bit skittish around loud noises, so something from my former life has made me a little afraid. I’m pretty good on the leash, so I’ve had a little practice. The weather is making it hard for Mama to know about my prey drive. I do love walks and get curious about smells and animals while tromping in the snow.

I stay in the laundry room during the day while Mom and Dad are working, but if it’s more than 9 hours, I’ll have an accident. It’s just too long for me to hold it! I’m a counter surfer, but rarely successful since I'm a little more petite than other beagles.

I love to kiss humans.....A LOT and when I get excited I get a little mouthy, but only with my mama for some reason. Once I’ve gotten rid of some of my energy and played a little, I’m a great companion on the couch and enjoy snuggling or curling up while you work nearby.
