My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

**UPDATED 3/6/2015**

Candi has improved so much since joining BFF 1.5 months ago. Her mange has almost fully disappeared revealing the beautiful girl underneath! The greatest improvement Candi has made is mentally. She now knows love and no longer does she shy away from being touched but now she gravitates towards it! Full grown we're expecting Candi to be a medium-sized dog and weighing about 40 lbs, in her foster home she is great with dogs, cats and gentle kids.

This beautiful little terrier mix girl is Candi and she's the newest addition to the BFF family until a family of her very own can be found. We knew we had to save Candi after a desperate call from a concerned citizen regarding a scared and sick puppy wandering around in a bad part of town.

This adorable little girl is only 3 months old and sadly the hard life on the streets has already taken its toll. A belly full of worms, demodex mange, ears infected and scared of human contact. Wanda said for all her years of being in rescue and the hundreds of puppies she's saved, this is the first puppy that runs, cowers then bites when faced with affection. Right now Candi is all about the 'flight' or 'fight' response so Wanda continues to work with her in hopes she'll realize that not all humans are bad.
Tomorrow (Jan 30) Candi begins the healing process to treat her itchy, cracked and bleeding skin with the first (of 8) injections to kill the mites feeding on her. We can only hope and pray that it's as easy to heal her mental and emotional state as it is to heal the physical.
Due to Candi being so fearful right now, we recommend a home with older respectful children.
