My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello there! If you are looking for a supremely talented cuddler and post-shower ankle-drier, I am YOUR MAN. I am a very smart boy, and I really love my people. I would be fine as either an only dog or as part of a pack. Very recently, I was in a lot of pain, but I still never growled at anyone or tried to bite them. I am an extremely gentle boy. I get along with other dogs and with kids. I have not seen a cat since I came to my foster home, so I have not given my foster mom my opinion of cats. I LOVE mealtimes and my tail wags and wags and wags and I spin in a circle when it is time to EAT! But the best thing in life, to me, is getting to cuddle in the big bed. I am a good sleeper.
I am six years old (even though my face looks pretty white), so I have a lot of years of love left to give. My foster mom recently discovered something funny about me. Even though I don't rip up toys, I love to rip up a long turnip green leaf! See my video!

Boy, I have had a rough time, but it should be smooth sailing from here. DREAM had to help me out quite a bit. I went "down" in my back with IVDD, a very common spinal condition in dachshunds. I couldn't walk, and I was really hurting. My family couldn't deal with it, and they contacted DREAM. These two nice ladies came and took to a doctor and got me a back surgery, and swim therapy and physical therapy. Now I can walk again! I have even started to "rassle" with my foster brother!

Whenever I go anywhere in public, I am Mr. Social and I like to meet all the people and give them big smiles. The ladies at the vet love to see me coming with my tail held up high and my big smile on my face!

I am a very affectionate boy who really loves to get lots of lap time and attention. I really hope someone like that finds me soon.

If you are interested in adopting me, you can fill out an application right on our website! Go to dreamhappytails.org/adoptform.shtml. My adoption fee is $250. All adoption fees go directly to veterinary care for DREAM dachshunds. I will go to his/her new home microchipped, altered, heartworm tested, and up to date on vaccinations. Most dogs' veterinary expenses are greater than our adoption fees.

DREAM is an all-volunteer rescue group, and we focus on the Atlanta, North Georgia and Savannah area. Because we are all volunteers, we can consider applications only within an hour of these areas. DREAM does not recommend purebred dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a doxie's back.
