Tanner's Story...
This adorable little chihuahua is Tanner, a 4 year old boy that has been through so much in his young life. The first picture here is of Tanner when he was first brought to our Newark facility in Nov. 2014. A motorist spotted this emaciated, dehydrated, soaking wet little guy on the median of a busy highway in the rain. He was obviously dumped there by an uncaring person. Thankfully, he rescued Tanner and brought him to the safety of our Newark facility. Our Newark staff provided Tanner with excellent medical care, lots of good meals, and a spa day too. Look at him now! Tanner came to us at Popcorn Park for a change of scenery and he is ready to meet his forever family. Tanner is still quite shy, and understandably so, but once he gets to know you, he'll just love you. Tanner is well behaved and the perfect gentleman. He is calm and quiet, and would prefer a home without a lot of commotion. Tanner would do best with children over 10, and he is just fine with most dogs he meets. Tanner has already been given the gift of a second chance in life, now he just needs a wonderful family to share his life with. File#24128 11/18/14

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Tanner, a Forked River Chihuahua dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Chihuahua for sale in Forked River, or seeking a Chihuahua dog from a breeder in Forked River.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Forked River already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Forked River breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Chihuahua breeders who help with Chihuahua rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Forked River paves the way for another one to be saved.
