Stitch - on Medical Hold's Story...
Stitch was rescued from a leg hold trap. Due to the extensive damage to his leg, it had to be amputated.

Stitch is a gentle, mature lab. He is still adjusting to having only three legs, but has been very good about taking it easy, not really bothering the incision, etc. He is still getting used to his new balance issues and developing a 3-legged gait. He manages stairs well and knows to lie down on the non-incision side.

He is well trained (understands going thru doors behind you, waiting for food until “OK!”), and has nice manners, good recall. He does not get on the furniture.

Have not tried him in a crate – he does not appear to need or want one, though other dogs in house love theirs. He has a large bed where he lays when we are not at home.

He loves affection; yet he is a dominant dog and will warn other dogs not to get too near him, especially little active dogs. So far not interested in playing with toys or other dogs.

He would likely be happiest in a quiet home without much commotion and a less dominant dog for company. He enjoys lying out on the deck and going for car rides.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Stitch - on Medical Hold, a Regina Labrador Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Labrador Retriever for sale in Regina, or seeking a Labrador Retriever dog from a breeder in Regina.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Regina already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Regina breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Labrador Retriever breeders who help with Labrador Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Regina paves the way for another one to be saved.
