Here's what the humans have to say about me:
This gorgeous 2-year-old girl is Katniss, a chocolate and tan Boxer/Labrador mix. In December an LAPD officer brought Katniss to a city shelter after not just one but two cars hit her. Shelter staff contacted her owners but they could not afford her medical care and made the decision to surrender her. She sustained a broken front leg with deep lacerations and severe de-gloving injuries to both hind legs. At the shelter Katniss must have been in a lot of pain but when PRC staff opened her cage door she wagged her tail and flashed her silly smile at them. There was no way they could leave L.A. without her so on Christmas Eve 2014, she was rescued. Throughout her recovery process, Katniss’s happy personality has never wavered. This sweet girl wags her tail during her daily bandage changes and gives her nurses lots of kisses throughout. She still has a bit more time before she is completely healed but her doctors expect a full recovery. She recently had her splint removed on her front leg and is ready for visitors. A real trooper and a joy to be around, Katniss is a loving, gentle dog that would fit into most households. Her snaggle-tooth grin really should be seen in person. Come visit Katniss today!
ADOPTION PROCESS:
Pets are visited by appointment (times are flexible). Please email adopt@thepetrescuecenter.org to arrange a meeting time. This process allows potential adopters to spend adequate time with their prospective pet and prevents long wait times.
All interested parties must fill out an Adoption Application, which will be reviewed to find the best possible match. You can find our application online at: http://www.thepetrescuecenter.org/adopt/adoption-application.html. Completed applications can be submitted online, faxed to (949) 743-5878 or emailed to: adopt@thepetrescuecenter.org
Our adoption fee is $300 for dogs and $150 for cats, and includes spay/neuter, microchip, flea treatment, deworming, regular veterinary check-ups, and current vaccinations. This fee helps to defray the costs of medical care, supplies and boarding while the animals are in our care.
The Pet Rescue Center is a 501c3 non-profit organization that seeks to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome pets from high kill shelters and is temporarily housed inside the Alicia Pet Care Center at 25800 Jeronimo Rd. Suite 100, Mission Viejo, CA 92691.
