Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Polly is a 6 y/o girl who came to HBHR from a shelter in Louisiana along with one of her daughters. Gilly has already found a home, but Polly had to go through heart worm treatment and recovery before getting her turn at a new life in Texas. Polly is a slender 22 pounds and a touch over 13 inches.
House training has been a slow process, but Polly now has good house manners and uses the dog door like a pro. As a mature adult, she doesn’t get into things that do not belong to her and can be trusted to have free run of the house when no one is home. Polly gets along with her foster siblings and enjoys a good game of chase. She is a natural Mama. She has taken the puppy of the pack under her wing and has been teaching her how to wrestle beagle style. You often see both of them exploring the yard side by side with noses to the ground. When a toy is thrown, it is a different story. Then it is every man for himself! She will chase down the toy and shake off any that tries to take it from her. Polly can be pushy when treats are being given out. She is a fast eater, so takes her meals in a kennel to insure that everyone gets their own dinner.
She is sweet and loving around everyone she meets. She never jumps up on the furniture unless invited, even though you can see in her eyes how much she wants to be near you. Polly loves to snuggle next to you and will love having a home with a person of her own. She is quiet enough for apartment living and would be fine as an only dog.
