Banjo loves to sit in your lap at the computer, and get in the shower when you are done to watch the water droplets. Maybe even sneak a drink from the faucet. He doesn't always greet you at the door, but rather stays back until you greet him. He's a loving little boy and especially likes his chest rubbed, but not so much his tummy. It must tickle. He gets along with other cats but sometimes wants to be the "boss" and intimidate another cat that is in the place he wants to be. Not so sure about dogs as he's never met one. Banjo a smoke gray with short hair and less than 2 years old. He has a crook in the end of his tail, but it doesn't take away from his good looks. He was rescued as a tiny kitten, now neutered, litter trained, and up to date on his shots. Banjo is looking for a great home to call his own.

About Humane Society of McCormick County, Inc.

About Our Rescue Group...

The Humane Society of McCormick County is a private, non-profit, no-kill organization formed in September 2000. We are staffed 100% by volunteers and we raise every penny ourselves as we live in a very poor county where 54% of the population is poverty level or below. The county has no money for an animal control officer or shelter. We are all our county has for any help with animals. We approach this problem through our "No more litters....fix your critters" low to no cost spay/neuter program. Over 240 animals have been altered in the first 6 months of 2013 free of charge to those who qualified for it. We are dedicated to the prevention of cruelty to animals, to providing shelter and care for lost and unwanted animals, to implementing educational programs and services, to promoting responsible pet ownership including population control (spaying and neutering are a must), and to placing animals in humane environments. The Humane Society of McCormick County is an advocate for animals - speaking for those who cannot speak for themselves. We are also in the process of building a refuge where animals may live out their natural life without threat to it but we need help with the development. If anyone living in the McCormick area would like to help with this venture, we would truly appreciate it!

Come Meet Our Pets...

We are in the process of fundraising for a spay and neuter / shelter facility. Most of our animals are in foster care or outside pens. Please call or email us to make an appointment or check our website to see our schedule of adoption events.

Our Adoption Process...

The animals in our care urgently need a permanent home where someone can provide individual loving care and attention. Please consider adopting your family pet from the Humane Society of McCormick County. We would require that you sign an adoption agreement wherein you commit to take proper care of the pet. The adoption fee is $90 for dogs and $60 for cats. Every animal has been given all appropriate vaccinations. Every animal that is old enough has been spayed/neutered.
