My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

STOP! PLEASE READ ALL OF THE INFO BELOW BEFORE INQUIRING ABOUT A DOG FOR ADOPTION

Please meet Dexter! He is an adorable 26 pound tri-color French bulldog. He is 4 years old, and came to us as an owner surrender due to not getting along with the other dogs and the children in the home. Dexter is a real sweetie who just wants to scratched and loved on.

Dexter seems to be much of a couch potato, is somewhat needy, and likes lots of cuddles. He likes to play for about 10 minutes at a time, but for the most part he is a totally laid back lap dog. He enjoys short walks, and walks well on his leash. Dexter does have a licking disorder, usually his right hind leg which his foster mom keeps bandaged. He wears a cozy cone at night and when she is away, which he does not mind at all. Dexter is currently on Fluoxetine just once a day, and takes his meds with ease. He is very patient and just lays still if being bandaged.

Dexter loves car rides, and he doesn't mind baths; he really doesn't seem to care about much. He is awesome in the house, and does not bother a thing! Dexter is both crate trained and house trained – He has never marked or messed in the house or at night. He had occasionally gone in his crate when his foster mom was at work, but has not had any of these accidents in weeks.

Dexter does not like other dogs much, but does not go out of his way to bother them if on a walk. He will need to be the only dog in the home, as he can be territorial and jealous.

Dexter does NOT like children, and will absolutely need to go to an adult only home – This would be a home without children, and without children who visit often. NO EXCEPTIONS. If children are visiting the home, Dexter will need to be crated during that time. He has shown anxiety and aggression towards children, and if not crated he could bite. Dexter is not fond of sudden movements or loud noises, and he gets very anxious and tries to take out his frustration on something. If he is crated when kids are around, he behaves pretty well and will even let kids give him treats. He doesn’t mind kids so long as he is the crate; it might be a feeling of security for him.

Dexter very much loves adults and strangers. He is a fantastic companion dog for a childless and dogless home. Please consider opening up your heart and giving Dexter his loving furever home!
