Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Billie-Jean is a two-year-old, 53-pound, female Australian Shepherd/Collie-mix with warm brown eyes looking for a loving guardian.
Billie-Jean adores cats and her human companions. She also gets along well with docile and submissive male dogs.
She makes a wonderful suburban family companion and currently sleeps in bed with the 12-year-old girl in her foster home. She can be protective of her home and family.
Billie-Jean is a homebody who is relaxed and gentle in the home. She’ll happily rest her chin on your feet as you work on your computer. She is anxious in noisy environments so she does not enjoy city walks, but loves camping and running in a fenced-in yard, or the woods (once you’ve developed off-leash recall with her.) She is very food-motivated and well-trained. She knows the commands sit, shake and come and is happy to learn more … especially if it means more treats!
Because she is selective with her canine companions, she is not a dog park or doggie daycare kind of dog.
Billie-Jean is housebroken, but needs a dog-walker or a crate if she’ll be left alone for over six hours at a time. She is very healthy, spayed, up-to-date on rabies, distemper, bordatella and lepto vaccines and micro-chipped.
Her adoption fee of $150 benefits rescued pets and includes her collar, leash and crate. She is being fostered in Chicago’s Rogers Park neighborhood.
