Mickey's Story...
Mickey came to our shelter on 5/27/2014 from one that was out of space. He was born around 06/14/2011. Mickey is a medium energy dog that would do well in most homes. He enjoys going for daily walks but a good game of fetch or walk is enough to enable him to snuggle into a lap for the rest of the day. Mickey enjoys being a part of the family and partaking in the activity around him. If his new family has young children they will want to monitor interactions until Mickey gets accustomed to them. Once settled in, Mickey turns into a lap pooch and enjoys burrowing into blankets and taking over dog beds. He is a quiet pooch that settles in and transitions well. Mickey does well with the cats at the shelter, and enjoys his puppy-playgroup. He is crate trained but we do not know if he is house trained. His adoption fee is $238.00.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Mickey, a Madison Chihuahua dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Chihuahua for sale in Madison, or seeking a Chihuahua dog from a breeder in Madison.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Madison already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Madison breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Chihuahua breeders who help with Chihuahua rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Madison paves the way for another one to be saved.
