Winnie's Story...
Winnie is a young brown tabby girl with an expressive face and big green eyes that look up at you begging for your love and attention. Winnie can be very playful and will chase after her toys, pouncing on them. She likes to have her chin scratched and get all the petting and affection she wants from her Person.

Winnie is just a bit on the plump side at about 13 pounds, but she knows that makes her that much more loveable and she is proud of her figure! There are a couple of small bare spots on the back of her neck that are the result of her prior owner's use of a topical flea treatment. The 4Paws vet who examined Winnie believes she had an allergic reaction to the chemicals and the bare spots are scar tissue. While the skin has healed, Winnie should not receive those treatments in the future.

Winnie has the potential to adapt to another non-dominant feline in the household, following a proper introduction period. Helpful guidelines for introducing new cats to each other are posted on our website.

She was born in February 2013. She has been spayed, tested negative for FIV and feline leukemia, and is current on her vaccinations.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Winnie, a Merrifield Domestic Shorthair cat was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Shorthair for sale in Merrifield, or seeking a Domestic Shorthair cat from a breeder in Merrifield.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Merrifield already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Merrifield breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Shorthair breeders who help with Domestic Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Merrifield paves the way for another one to be saved.
