My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Gypsy. Gypsy was picked up by Animal Control as a stray and was stuck in a high kill shelter for days. Gypsy is a senior. She is around 10 years old and weighs 55lbs. Andrea, a friend of Dogs in Harmony, had first seen her at the pound on a Thursday just before closing. She watched Gypsy closely because she knew she was having a hard time walking and was clearly in pain. On Monday morning, Andrea took one look at Gypsy and knew that stray hold or not she had to go to the vet. You see, Gypsy had lain outside at the pound in the rain and snow and didn't even bother going inside. She was curled up in a ball and was soaking wet. Andrea asked Animal Control if Gypsy could go to the vet and board and get checked over until stray hold was up because clearly she was miserable in the pound. AC agreed and Andrea loaded her up and headed to Blue Springs vet.
Gypsy has a few things going on. She has severe arthritis, hip dysplasia and bone deterioration. She also had a large mass on her back. No wonder this poor girl is in pain. Dr. Abi does not seem concerned about the mass at this time. Gypsy is on pain medication which seems to be making her feel much better. Gypsy is now walking like a champ. I think just being warm helped a lot. She is in no condition to be outside in the cold.
You can see from the pictures she has so much life left in her and oh how she craves to be loved. She was just talking up a storm today as I was taking her pictures. Gypsy radiates beauty. She is such a lovely old soul.

We was contacted by a young lady who had saved Gypsy a few months ago and I want to share what she had to say. "I saved her from a trailer park several months ago where residents were shooting at her with guns to scare her off. She was starved and covered in fleas head to toe, nails two inches long and hair bloody and matted." This young lady took Gypsy to the vet and had her on medicine to make her more comfortable. She would love nothing more than to get Gypsy back but this is not possible. She says, "My mother kept telling me she was dying and was going to take her to put her down. She made an appointment to have her pts but somehow Gypsy escaped the fenced in yard and was picked up by animal control. I think it was faith". She fears that if she leaves Gypsy alone for a second her mom will have her pts. She says, "This has been very hard on me but I feel like all I can do is help from the outside."

Before meeting Gypsy and hearing about all her issues, I have to admit I thought putting her to sleep may be best for her. We would never want a dog to suffer. However, I could not have been more wrong. After meeting Gypsy we knew without a doubt in our mind that she could not be pts. She has the will and God willing we can provide her the way. To meet her, is to love her. You will fall in love.

Gypsy may have years left or only months. She is in desperate need of a place to spend the rest of her life being loved and cherished as all seniors deserve to be. Could you possibly have room in your heart and home for this beautiful German Shepherd. We are listing her as special needs because she is a senior and will require pain medicine most likely the rest of her life to live comfortably. She is housetrained but does have occasional accidents as she is a senior and sometimes she does not make it outside in time. According to the young lady who saved her, "She prefers to just lie around on a pet bed all day when she isn't trying to make it outside. She is good on the leash and gets along with other dogs and cats". Gypsy is currently in a foster home with several other dogs, a cat and a small child. She does excellent with them all.
Gypsy is spayed, up to date on vaccinations, heartworm negative and on preventatives. Her adoption fee will only be $135. This is to cover the cost of transport to you. All we want is for her to live out her life to the best of her ability and we believe there is a special angel out there to assist her with this. We believe in miracles. We pray, "God please send Gypsy an angel". Amen.
