My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

03/23/2015 BABY BOY, AKA HUNTER, IS THE PERFECT DOG!

Baby Boy is a sweet and affectionate Boxer, who does great with all types and sizes of dogs in daycare everyday. He enjoys the company of other dogs, but adores the attention of his handlers, so he would be fine in a home with OR without other dogs.

Baby Boy is crate and house trained and does fine with cats, and children. Although his previous foster home reported food guarding issues, we are not seeing any of that!

01/25/15: Baby Boy Is A Welcome Guest

Baby Boy has been staying in a temporary foster home and has been the perfect guest. He has completed his heartworm treatment and is ready to be adopted. Below is an update from the woman who has been taking good care of him.

“Baby Boy is wonderful. If we weren't so full we would adopt him! He is one of our favorite fosters and he is so laid back. It has been great having him and getting to enjoy him here a bit longer!

Baby Boy is an awesome dog and is just the right blend of fun, but calm. He is a major lover and his favorite past time is being with his human. Baby Boy loves to cuddle on the couch, and his favorite sleeping position is lying on his back with his legs in the air and his head in a lap. When he sleeps like this is he is the true definition of relaxed!

We haven't really had him around too many dogs, going through his treatment. He has been around some females, tall like him, and one bigger and one smaller and he did great with both. He does have some food guarding which makes sense knowing his history of not being well taken care of. He has never started a fight, but he does watch the food and stay near it. We have kept him mostly separate so he hasn't been around too many dogs to see if he gets better about it. Not sure how he is with cats, but there was a cat at the vet office he seemed interested in, but I wasn't really able to judge how he would be with them. He does well walking on a leash and doesn't pull much. He bathes well also. He is just an awesome boy. He is very loving and emotional just like a typical boxer.

Baby Boy crates well, never having accidents. He does occasionally whine if crated, but he is well behaved when left loose in the house. He is fully potty trained and is very good about going to the door to alert us when he needs to go out. He also loves to eat! When Baby Boy wakes up in the morning the first thing he wants to do is eat…and eat often. He plays well with others especially girls. Baby Boy does play with toys, but he has to be supervised because he tries to find the squeaker and chew them apart. He rides really well in a car. He loves to go for rides and usually sits like a gentleman looking out the window.

Baby Boy is a great dog that loves everyone he meets. Once you meet Baby Boy, you will fall in love with him too!”

11/25/14: Baby Boy FOSTER HOME NEEDED
A woman called Animal Control asking for help with her “sick” Boxer. When the officers arrived they found Baby Boy chained outside where he was kept 24/7. We were told he was emaciated and had little hair on his body. The woman expected that the authorities would take her dog for treatment and then return him to her. Animal Control determined that this woman was not fit to care for Baby Boy and he was officially seized. She had previously adopted him from another Shelter.

Baby Boy remained at the Shelter for more than two months where he gained much needed weight. They felt his hair loss was caused by malnutrition because his hair started to grow back after he was given proper nourishment. Unfortunately Baby Boy is heartworm positive. Animal Control could not find a home or a Rescue group to help and his life was in jeopardy.

We contacted the Shelter as soon as we heard about Baby Boy and saw his wonderfully sweet face. They told us that the reason they kept him alive for so long was because he was such a pleasant dog. We made arrangements to have him transferred to an Animal Hospital for care where he will stay until his health is evaluated.

Baby Boy is in serious need of a foster home. Please help!
