Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Tess is a petite, "faded" tri-color beagle. This beautiful 4 y/o sweetie found herself in a shelter south of Houston. Shy and frightened of all that was happening to her, it was her lucky day when HBHR rescued her. Tess is 13+ inches tall and 20 pounds. She has a good appetite and now that she is recovered from her medical treatments, she wants to be fat and fluffy like one of her foster siblings!
Recently, Tess's beautiful coat started looking moth eaten! The loss of hair was an indication that something was wrong. The skin-scraping was normal, but she was found to have low thyroid levels. She was started on replacement meds and was looking good in no time! Thyroid meds are very inexpensive, but will need to be given to her for the rest of her life.
Tess gets along with her foster siblings, but does not join in many of the beagle games. She is a shy, quiet girl who enjoys having a comfy place on the couch where she can watch the world go by. She is house broken with the use of a dog door and only has a rare accident. She walks well on a leash and will go out if taken.
It takes Tess a little time to trust that the people around her will treat her well. She loves attention but is skittish when approached. She almost purrs when someone sits near her and starts stroking her fur, but becomes very uncomfortable when you try to pick her up or sit too close. With time, I think she would love to be a world class snuggler! Tess is going to need a home with lots of love and patience. She has come a long way, but her journey is not over. She needs a quiet home with one person who is looking for a sweet companion.
