My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Garcia! Garcia is just the sweetest little dog there ever could be. He is about 2 years old and weighs about 10 lbs. He is a Chihuahua and Miniature Pinscher mix. Garcia came into rescue from a local shelter where he was too scared to be put on the adoption floor. Once he got to his foster home he came out of his shell and showed his spunky little personality wagging his tail and trying to get his foster mom to chase him. Garcia is fearful of men and will hide when they are present. In just a few days he has made incredible progress and follows his foster dad everywhere and even cries when he leaves. He lets him pick him up and he seeks out attention from him. He will need a female adopter who is willing to work on building his confidence and showing him that new friends are GOOD, he is already learning that! His foster mom knows from personal experience that a dog like Garcia is very much a diamond in the rough and will return the love and support that you give him 10-fold over the years. A bond like this is hard to come by! Garcia is excellent with other dogs and is great in his crate. He walks nicely on a leash and appears to be house trained. He will be shy when meeting potential adopters but don't let him fool you, he is a frisky little guy who loves to play and run around! He is great with children and will even play fetch with a ball with the little ones once he gets comfortable. He has only barked once in a week, if the other dogs run to the door barking at a noise Garcia can be found hiding under the bed until the coast is clear. He loves cheese and is very food motivated.

We expect that all adopted dogs will enroll in a formal dog training class with their new owners. Obedience and training classes are an excellent way to learn more about your newly adopted dog, gain handling and training experience, and improve your relationship with your pet.

Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most of the dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label.Garcia
