My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Zayn is quite the looker! His solid white coat and very expressive, tall ears are likely to get lots of attention. This little Staffordshire Terrier boy is 10 month old now and approximately 40lbs. He is still growing and we expect him to eventually be a 50 pound adult. He is very active and playful, just like a puppy is expected to be. He is so much fun to be around and will adjust nicely into a new family once they find him.

Zayn was picked up as a tiny stray puppy and he was very sick with an upper respiratory infection. His condition was serious due to his age and his overall malnourishment. He was spotted by a very compassionate shelter volunteer, whom scooped him up and took him home as her foster baby and helped him to recover completely. He is currently still living with her and has been there for almost 6 months, learning all of his proper puppy manners and socializing with people and other dogs. He plays hard and fast and would really enjoy having a furry sibling his size or larger that he can romp and wrestle around with. His current best friend is a 65 pound pup that also has the same energy level. Zayn doesn’t live with cats and has never had a proper introduction to them, so we feel that a house without cats is probably not the most responsible option.

An active family with adventures on their things to do list is the ideal situation for Zayn. Riding in the car is one of his favorite things to do and he does it well, so he can go on long distance fun activities too. He also enjoys quiet time at home with the people that he loves and is devoted to. He loves going for walks, playing out in the yard and also sitting on the back porch watching the birds and squirrels. He currently lives with a 5 member human family, which includes 3 older boys. Zayn is a bit too fast and fun to live in a house with very small children. He wouldn’t ever intentionally hurt them, but his speed and puppy clumsiness could possibly knock them over.

Zayn is a great walker and does exceptionally well with his harness on. He tends to want to walk himself and picks up his own leash to head out. His foster mom found that if she uses a chain slip leash, he doesn’t like the texture of it and doesn’t pick it up. He has attended and graduated from the PetsMart 6 week Puppy Class, so he’s got his basics handled. He is obviously still an young dog, so he needs a family that is willing to pick up and continue with his training, so he can continue to excel as a pet. As most puppies, he is a bit headstrong and likes to push his luck on occasion, but he enjoys training and he is treat motivated, so he can easily be corrected and redirected. He is a really good boy and we are certain that he will be an excellent family pet for many years to come.

Zayn is neutered, micro chipped, current on shots and absolutely healthy. He is crate trained, leash trained and housebroken. He is currently being fostered in Houston, Texas and is available for local or out of state adoption. His out of state adoption fee is $450, which includes his airline flight, travel crate and comfy travel bed (both which are his to keep upon arrival). If you see this gorgeous dog as part of your pack, please email us at adoptions@reggiesfriends.org to make it official.
