My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

KONA #2: 7 Year Old Chocolate Female Lab Spayed 72 Pounds

My name is Kona and I am a sweet active girl. My story is that I’ve had a great life full of lots of fun and adventure and a Mom and Dad who love me. They love me so much that they realized that can’t give me all the love and attention I deserve anymore now that they have 2 small children to run around after. They knew the best thing they could do for me would be to find me a new home where I could get all the love and attention I deserve, so they contacted Lab Rescue to help.

What My Rescue Rep has to say: Kona is a very exuberant dog with a zest for life (and tennis balls!) She needs a home that can give her daily exercise and a refresher course on her obedience commands. She does pull quite a bit on the leash, so she will need to be taught how to walk politely (use of a Gentle Leader or correction collar will help with this). Kona has a fused ulna that was the result of either a birth defect or injury when she was very young, so making sure that she doesn’t overdo the ball playing is something you will need to watch. Kona loves her tennis balls and would play with you all day if you let her. She is housebroken and also crated trained. Kona likes to go for rides in the car and is well-behaved when you’re on the road. She is also up for a swim anytime you are game. When I met Kona she never stopped smiling at me and was up for whatever and wherever I wanted to take her.

We would like Kona to go to a home where she will get the attention and exercise that has been lacking in her life lately. She is dog friendly, but can be a bit excited on initial greeting, better leash manners will definitely help with that. We are not sure how she is with cats. Kona needs to go to a home with children over the age of 8 due to her size and excitement level. Kona is spayed and up to date on her vaccinations. Kona is located in Walnut Creek currently.

If you are interested this sweet, funny girl, call Rescue Rep Jennifer 650-430-5357 (please text or send email: dekker3073@aol.com).

(Please keep in mind we are all volunteers, most of us work full time and we all have personal lives. I do call everyone back within 2-3 days so please be patient and I will be back in touch with you. When the dogs are in foster homes then it may take longer as we need to touch base with the fosters for updates on the dogs. We work very hard to make the right matches for the dogs and for the new owners. We get 3-5 dogs per week and we do not have a facility that we keep the dogs housed in. They are scattered all over the Bay Area.)
