Hi!

My name is Sparkles.

This is the name I was surrendered with. However, when someone called me by this name I was very fearful. Thankfully, I’m no longer scared of my new nickname, given to me by my foster family: “Mila”.

I am a black 2 1/2 yr old spayed female Great Dane.

I was surrendered by my owners.

I was left for 12+ hours a day alone in a cold garage or locked up in a crate that was too small for my Dane body. When the nice people from the rescue came and got me, they could see two gaping wounds on each side of my hips and another on one of my paws. I was also very hungry and very skinny.

I also had many sores up and down my legs and feet. They think this is from being confined to a small area and not allowed to move around.

My foster mom has been taking such good care of me, these are almost completely gone now and I feel so much better!

When I was surrendered, I was very hungry and very skinny. I am slowly gaining some weight from all the yummy food I've been getting and my coat is all shiny and pretty!

I LOVE to play with a ball! I love it when someone throws it for me and I bring it right back to them. I don't quite know all the time to drop it so they can throw it again for me but I am working on it.

My foster momma thinks with so much alone time I had before, I was never properly socialized with humans and especially other dogs. They make me very excitable!

I get along well with my two Dane foster siblings and my very sassy chihuahua foster sister. My foster family is working on socializing me with other humans.

I am currently doing basic dog training. I am extremely food motivated so I LOVE getting treats for doing something good. I know how to sit and my foster mom is working with me on how to stay, lay down, and leave it.

I am crate trained.

As long as I stick to a schedule, I do well with my potty training.

I am good with older kids and women and I am learning to trust men. My foster mom suspects I’ve had bad experiences with a man or men in my past. I like to be able to see my humans so when I can’t, I get a little excited and pace around in my room. After a while, I will settle down though and I'm ok sitting in my room by myself.

I would benefit greatly with a fenced in backyard to play and run around. I am a typical Dane so I do get the zoomies and love to leap around the yard like a deer! I would benefit from some regular exercise.

I do like to talk a lot so my foster mom says I'm quite vocal. I really am a very lovable girl. I don't exactly know how to give kisses but, I've never known love like I've been getting with my foster family.

I just love praises and smiles from them. I have great potential to be a fantastic part of someone's family.

Until my full potential is realized, I need a loving home with a terrific new owner who does not have small children. I would love to have a four legged sibling to play with but, I’m also content with being an only dog.
