My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

What a happy and sweet Pug/Terrier mix Duos is! At approximately 6 years old (shelter vet said 6.5 and local vet guessed 5.5..so we've compromised at 6) and just about 10 - 12 or so lbs. Duos is the most loving guy ever. We all know that when the wag starts at the tail and becomes a full-blown body wiggle...that Duos is greeting either a beloved friend or anyone who has the potential to be a future playmate. Duos is so warm and friendly that he always hopes every pat and kind word will turn into a lifelong friend. Both humans and other dogs are drawn to Duos for his positive attitude and kind ways - no human friend can keep from petting Duos and feeling his love.
Duos obviously stood out in a high-kill shelter in a low-adoption area as Farfel's was contacted in a plea to save his life. The shelter personnel had the following to say about sweet Duos:
Duos is a calm, gentle, little man. He's so very loving and adores being petted. If you're seeking a small, loyal friend to curl up on the couch with for snuggles or a walking companion who is so low-maintenance and social... Duos is your guy!

It is this sweet nature and love of life that motivates us to put Duos through Heartworm treatments..his precious life deserves to be saved! Duos has tested low HW+ and Farfel's has volunteered to save this very sweet guy. The heart worm treatment process involves several shots followed by a short period of quiet time for the dog. We have found this protocol to be very successful and the dogs go on to live long, happy lives.
We are seeking a wonderful family to lovingly care for Duos through this process as he becomes Heartworm negative. It's quite an easy rehab process as it only entails quiet time with soft words and belly rubs. Farfel's will pay the vet bills and provide premium food and treats for this loving guyl as he grows heartworm-free. Duos is being neutered, given his final vaccinations and getting his cherry eye fixed today. His vetting will be complete and he's so excited to be 100% healthy and to finally find his permanent home.

Duos is currently in a foster home and the following is his foster report card:
Duos was clearly the love of someone's life! He is far too sweet and affectionate to have ever had harsh treatment. He also has no fear of people like so many shelter dogs do.
Duos is the perfect size to be able to scoop up and take absolutely anywhere. And at 5 - 6 years old (or so) he's the perfect age ...young enough to be active and have many, many years ahead and old enough to have wisdom and great behavior! Duos has an adorable, Benji-like coat, and a face with golden eyes that will simply melt your heart.
Duo walks very well on a leash...no issues whatsoever. It seems like someone spent lots of time and positive energy training Duos on great behavior.
Outdoors, Duos seems really curious about everything going on around him, but he exhibited calm and sweet behavior the entire time. Duos appears to be an appropriately vocal dog...even with all the stimulation and other dogs, it wasn't his style to be yappy or whiny.
One thing is certain...Duos responds really well to soft and kind human touch.
This is an all-around really amazing dog. Duos would be perfect for any family who will truly love him (he deserves it!) and commit to his welfare.

Other dogs seem to really enjoy Duos's demeanor that is never aggressive...only fun-loving and kind. It's very typical for a Pug/Terrier to be a great and devoted companion - they're known for their sweet and comical ways. Duos would fit well into a retired family or a family with kind and mature kids (no tail pulling or riding please) and gentle dog friends to play and snuggle with.

Duos appears to be either a non-shedding or very lightly shedding pup. He will therefore require periodic baths/brushing and great nutrition to keep his scruffy coat healthy and silky-soft.

Duos will be arriving on transport in Boulder at the end of March. Applications are currently being accepted and can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/. If you're interested in this very calm and devoted lap companion, please fill out and return to farfelsapps@gmail.com.
