Meet Lionel! This sweet, older Beagle mix has had a hard life and is looking for a quiet home where he can finally have the love that he so deserves. Around 9 years old and 37 lbs., some may call him a “senior” dog, but we just consider it “experienced”! But don’t let age fool you. True to his breed, Lionel is a happy-go-lucky guy who has lots of spunk and is always up for an adventure. He is also content to just chill out and watch the world go by. And boy does he love to cuddle and just hang out with his people! In fact, Lionel loves people, cats, and other laid back dogs like himself. He has charmed everyone at the Rescue with his good looks and sweet disposition and we know he will make a wonderful companion.
While he did get an overall good report at his vet checkup, Lionel was diagnosed with a mild heart murmur. This is fairly common with dogs his age, and shows no sign of impacting his quality of life. It is recommended that his new family would have an echocardiogram performed, just to keep an eye on things.
Lionel longs for a family who will give him love, affection, and the security to know that he will never be alone again. Lionel is a realist - he knows that senior dogs have a tough time finding homes. But he believes that there is someone out there, just for him.
