My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Delilah : 3 yr old female blue lynx point Himalayan

Want kisses? This is the girl for kisses. She is an affectionate little darling, a tiny treasure at 6 pounds.

She is all about love. She will give you a head butt or rub herself on your hand and or give you kisses and follow you around. She likes to be carried on a shoulder and lie on a lap. Everyone who meets her falls under her spell.

So how did such a lovebug end up in a shelter? I don’t know. She was owner surrendered, unspayed with big nipples. I expect she had just had a litter. She was badly matted and you can see her flanks where her silky fur has been shaved off. I am sort of guessing her owner kept a kitten or two and took Delilah in to the shelter. She arrived very stressed, of course, but she has settled into our daily routine of loving her up and she seems quite happy. Today, she was finished with her two weeks of quarantine and she and we are happy to have her more out with us. What a darling she is! (We quarantine all cats from shelters in case they are incubating a cold.)

Delilah, as she came in named, is a very sweet, good natured, nice girl. She is not a problem child. Her fur is silky and a little thin, the way you might expect it to be if all her nutrition were going to feeding hungry kittens. That is hard work for such a little one. She has a snaggletooth as some Himi’s and Persians do. That is when a usually lower canine tooth sticks out a little from the cat’s mouth. This is because the kitty has been bred to have such a flat face, there is not quite enough room in the mouth for the jaw so a tooth peeks out. You also often see, but not with Delilah, their little pink tongues sticking out, also.

This girl seems to be entirely healthy. She is now spayed and shaved and microchipped and vaccinated and wormed. Her paperwork for some reason says she is declawed but she is not. With her shaved tummy for her spay and her shaved sides for her mats, she looks a little long and skinny, but her fur will grow back and she will have the round Himalayan look again. She gets along with other non-dominant cats and would do well with kids over 4 feet high..

She is an absolute darling and someone will be so lucky to have all her love.. She needs to be protected and treasured for the rest of her life. It is hard to believe her first three years were safe and loviing for her.

Delilah eats wet and dry food and is litterbox perfect.

Her foster mom is Harriet in Santa Cruz.
