Lady Lucille, or LaLu as she is now known, is a beautiful hound/Lab mix. She sought shelter in an unheated barn in January to give birth to a litter of puppies. Unfortunately, it was bitterly cold and all but one puppy perished. The puppy fought to survive for two more weeks, then she lost her battle. LaLu needed time to decompress, get to a healthy weight and learn to enjoy being a carefree dog.
Thanks to SAAP, and a tireless rescuer from another county, she will never have to worry about food and shelter again. LaLu wants her forever family to know that she enjoys laying in front of the fireplace when it’s cold outside, and REALLY likes air conditioning. She loves stretching out on comfy couches and curling up in chairs, to make it easier for her family to give ear scratches and belly rubs.
LaLu is housebroken and crate trained. She gets along well with other dogs her size, but gets a little anxious around smaller dogs. LaLu likes to run and play for a while, then she is ready to nap for a while. She is also content to lay quietly, dozing in her crate or gnawing on an antler chew. LaLu has not really exhibited a high prey drive beyond a slight fixation on the chickens. There are no cats or children in her foster home.
If you’re looking for a moderately active dog to walk with, or play a quick game of fetch with, before curling up on the couch together, look no further than LaLu.

All SAAP dogs and puppies are vet checked, UTD on vaccines, spayed/neutered, micro chipped, and given flea and heartworm preventatives as age appropriate.

About Stray Animal Adoption Program

About Our Rescue Group...

We are an all-volunteer 501(c)3 non profit organization. We are dedicated to the rescue of animals that are in need of a forever home. Our animals are fostered in homes where we provide love, food, medical care and socialization until adoption into a new loving home. We educate on the importance of spaying and neutering of all pets.

We ensure all animals have been spayed or neutered prior to adoption. They are micro-chipped, up to date on shots and on heartworm and anti-flea medications (as age appropriate). They are ready and waiting to start their new life with their fur-ever family. Could that be you?

We need your help to continue our mission. We rely solely on donations and fundraisers. All donations are tax-deductible and 100% of your donation will go towards the rescue, care, and medical needs of the animals.

If you need info on a cat or kitten please contact 859-391-2944

Our Adoption Process...

You are required to sign a legally binding contact on your new pet. As part of that contract, should you no longer be able to keep the animal for any reason, the animal MUST be surrendered back to SAAP. This is to ensure the animal is placed back in foster care while we secure a new approved home for the animal. However, we always try to ensure that the initial placement is best for the pet and your family. We reserve the right to refuse any adoption.
