Hi, I'm Uma, a very loving, gentle and inquisitive cattle dog/Dalmatian mix. I was originally brought to MaxFund by some Good Samaritans who realized I was left in a park all by my lonesome, so little is known of my past. I went into a foster home, where I did well living with a rambunctious young pup and two old cats. I was then adopted, but sadly was returned about a month later. Luckily, my foster parents were able to offer their home again. I like it here, but I know there is a forever home out there for me outside the foster system!

My name has a Hindi meaning; it is a goddess name (one of Parvati's names), and it also means "mother," "Lady of the Mountains," as well as "tranquility," "bright" and "peace" in Sanskrit. This is good because I've had lots of challenges as a senior dog. I do have some medical issues that will require some patience and loving care from a special adopter. But despite these challenges, I always have a big smile on my face. I have a huge heart and am very affectionate.

I wish I was young enough to run with my foster brother! We have enjoyed playing together at times but I can't rough-and-tumble like I used to. I get along great with my canine and feline foster siblings, and I would do fine if your home has either or both. I do hope, though, to be in a quiet home with siblings who will be gentle and not too rough with me.

I do have a Facebook page so if you'd like to learn more about me and interact with me, you can look me up: http://www.facebook.com/UmaMaxFund.

I would love to meet you. Please contact my foster mama to set up a meet and greet: laura@ delightfuldoggies com or 303-550-5652. I'm looking forward to finding the perfect "furever" home!

About MaxFund No-Kill Animal Shelter

About Our Shelter...

The MaxFund is a non-profit organization that was established in May of 1988 to provide medical care for injured pets with no known owners, and to seek out new homes for these animals once they have recovered. The MaxFund is a no-kill dog and cat shelter. MaxFund assists hundreds of people and animals each year by trying to make the correct match between owner and pet. MaxFund adopts our animals to Colorado residents only.

The MaxFund is a TRUE no-kill shelter. There is no pre-sorting of animals into "adoptable" and "non-adoptable" categories, discarding the so-called "unadoptable." The MaxFund takes every animal it has the space for. EVERY animal is kept until its owner is found or it is placed in a new adoptive home.

Our Adoption Process...

Adoption fees:

Cats: $25
Kittens (under 12 months): $75
Dogs: $125
Puppies (under 6 months) $200
Dogs over 8 years: $75

All applicants will be asked to submit the names and phone numbers of 3 personal references (relatives don't count), the name and phone number of your veterinarian if you have one, the name and phone number of your landlord (if applicable) and information about your current living situation. We also require that all immediate family members meet the animal prior to adoption to ensure compatibility. We would hate to adopt an animal into a family and later find out the dog doesn't like the kids or the husband doesn't like the animal, etc. You can print out an application on our website at maxfund.org.

If you are interested in adopting a dog and have filled out an application, MaxFund will ask you to bring any currently owned dogs to the shelter for a “meet-and-greet” to ensure they can stand each other before they become a family. Because we examine adoption applications carefully and contact all references, same-day adoptions are extremely rare and should not be expected!
