Buddy could be that dream come true pup for retirees who love spending their time with a cottony-soft and very sweet companion. There's no question Buddy would also do well with gentle older kids 12+ who enjoy the fun and positive energy that a sweet little dog brings to a family. We'd like only older children in Buddy's family not because he dislikes young kids...but because Buddy is only 10 lbs and 12 - 18 months old, we want to make certain he's handled gently and respectfully. Buddy has also had a hard life without lots of love and nurturing. Farfel's is therefore committed to placing Buddy with a family that derives great joy from showering a beautiful and sweet dog with nothing but love and softness. Once comfortable (it may take a bit of cuddling time) Buddy does love playing and is entertaining in his antics, young energy and the huge love just waiting inside to blossom.
Buddy's story is all too common in his extremely close call to being euthanized in a scary Kansas shelter....but who could ignore his adorable manner and the huge potential he has? Buddy is initially a bit shy..but give him some time (a soft belly rub and yummy treats are helpful) and he inches just a bit closer to a welcoming lap. Before you know it he's gently loving you with a soft kiss. The awesome Kansas rescuer recognized all of this and knew that there was a home out there that would love, respect and make this little guy a permanent member of their family.
Buddy would do well with a family who's invested in spending time with their pup. He's so pleasant and portable that he can be a part of any adventure....it can be a leisurely walk, a visit with friends (with or without their dogs), a car ride on vacation or just an afternoon spending time together plopped down on the couch - all of this would speak to Buddy's temperament. We aren't open to a home where everyone spends their days working full-time outside of the home....we'd like Buddy to get more time and attention than is possible with that lifestyle.
We've requested that Buddy be neutered prior to his arrival in Colorado. This is often not possible due to the limited number of vets in this rural area of Kansas and the vast number of dogs. If his fixing doesn't occur, Farfel's will be happy to cover all costs for his neuter and microchip at our vet in Denver.
Buddy is a non-shedding guy with the softest hair ever. He will therefore requires periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep his cotton-soft coat healthy and matt-free.
