My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

The very first thing our Kansas rescuer noticed about Piper were her gorgeous eyes in the dim high-kill shelter light. She stared at Piper for a bit and saw all the wonderful possibilities in this gorgeous King Charles/Toy Fox Terrier mix. This breed mix was the guess of the shelter vet and and the town vet agreed...we really just know that Piper is sweet and adorable and deserves a great life! This photo definitely doesn't do this exceptional girl justice! Her markings are stunning and her coat so soft that you just want to hug her constantly. Piper almost appears to be growling in her photo...not so! She smiles (and is known to give a little purr) when she's so happy that she overflows. She seemed to understand that she's safe and that life holds wonderful things for her future.
Piper's adorable little nose sniffed shyly through the bars at our rescuer's outstretched hand...and then her famous ear to ear smile. Piper was brought out of her cage.. and before you know it, she was in our rescuer's lap. There was no question that she was careful...after all, life hadn't been kind and could she be absolutely sure that Sue was what she appeared to be? Piper decided, after soft words and loving hugs from Sue, that all was absolutely wonderful! She was clearly delighted with the turn her life had just taken! This 12 - 18 month old, approximately 8 lb cutie-pie truly lights up when she feels like she's done a good job... some serious belly rubs and kind words will send her over the moon. Piper wants desperately to be a family girl ...she would derive huge self-esteem and have the time of her life in a very nurturing home that truly loves their doggie companion. Piper also enjoys other gentle and calm dog companions but doesn't require it for her happiness.
We feel that Piper would do very well with either retirees who are searching for that special relationship that a sweet lap dog can provide. She would also be the perfect foot/lap warmer for someone who works from home. She'd be perfect for that break- time to provide a loving kiss and assurance that all is well in the world. Piper would never be one to say no to getting out on a walk. Exercise is important for a dog of any size and Piper loves the sunshine and socializing that goes with it. A dog-crazy younger family with gentle older kids would also be a great fit for Piper. She loves people of all ages but we feel she'd be more comfortable in the quieter and calmer home of kids 12+. Piper would be so excited to spend her days in the company of her people. We wouldn't want her to be left alone for long hours waiting for her family to arrive home in the evening.. 5 or so hours at a time are fine..but an entire day is just too long for this sensitive pup.
Farfel's has requested that Piper be spayed prior to her arrival in Denver. This frequently doesn't occur due to too many dogs and not enough vets in this rural area of Kansas. Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for Piper's spay and microchip if our Denver vet is used.

Piper will arrive on transport in Denver on Tuesday 3/10/15. Applications are currently being accepted and can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/. If interested in this devoted and cuddly companion, please fill out and return to farfelsapps@gmail.com.
