My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

MEET ROSIE the Wirehair -

You've heard of Rosie the Riveter? Well meet our newest friend that we're calling Rosie the Wirehair. Like her historical namesake, our little ROSIE is strong and able to handle anything that comes her way, but on the inside, she is a sweet, shy, adorable little lady looking for love. Could this be you and your family? ROSIE is a 5.5 year old, 16.5 lb, purebred, wheaton colored wirehair dachshund with a lovely personality and a penchant for dresses when she gets to dress up. Are you looking for a sweet, mature doxie to love and hangout with. Perhaps you need a companion when working from home...ROSIE makes a great companion and will do best in a family with a stay at home parent (work from home/retired). She previously lived with a neutered male puggle and did very well. If you have older children (over the age of 12 only) and are looking for a family dog, we think Rosie could be your newest family member. We're still learning more about her, so stay tuned, but if you're curious to learn about ROSIE for yourself, why not complete the Adoption Questionnaire on our website and make an appointment to meet her? You won't be disappointed.

OUR CRITERIA (aka The Fine Print):

Based on 30 years of experience with rescue doxies, we have pretty strict criteria. Do you work from home/stay at home/work part time? Have a securely fenced yard? We do not place same gender dogs in a home unless they were raised together, and children need to be 12 or older (some exceptions IF the dog is a puppy or the child has been raised with a doxie). We prefer non smokers and a home with no other small animals (ferrets, hamsters, etc) Cats are on a case by case basis depending on the dog. Remember, these are rescues; many were surrendered because of these issues.

WHAT YOU GET IN RETURN WITH YOUR LITTLE RESCUE:

All our dogs are fully vetted, including spay/neuter, rabies, DHPP, Bordetella, Pyrantyl, nails trimmed, and dental when needed. They'll come with a basket of goodies, food, toys and a custom made harness. The adoption fee is $395, sorry no exceptions, as this covers the cost to rescue them, vet them and take care of them while in our rescue. It also helps towards the care of other doxies that come with huge vet or dental bills or need extensive behavioral training.

Can you give ROSIE a happy, carefree life that she deserves? If interested, please complete the adoption questionnaire at www.odr-inc.org and email it to: jrangan@comcast.net. The adoption committee will attempt to be in touch with you within 48 -72 hours. Please be patient as we are solely volunteer run.
