Petal is a very shy and timid cat who needs a nice quiet home where she will not be teased or picked on. She is about 4 years old and extremely sweet once she gets to know you. She loves to have her head and neck and ears scratched, but is usually too shy to ask for attention. She needs to have a place where she can hide and feel safe, especially if there are other animals in the house. Too much commotion sends her scurrying into her hidey-hole.
Petal lives in a foster home with other cats and dogs, but she keeps mostly to herself. She will need lots of time to adjust to a new home because she is so shy. In the last few months, though, she has come out of her shell quite a bit. Where once she hid all day long and only came out when it was time to be fed, she now will spend long periods of time sitting in the window or even playing with her toys. She doesn’t run away from all the cats anymore and even seems to like the two youngest cats in the household. She usually only hides now from the ones that she knows want to chase her.
Since she does love attention so much it’s possible she may eventually be a lap cat with a little patience and in the right environment. When it’s feeding time she does come around looking for some stroking and head scratches before she digs into her bowl. That’s when she finally gets some loving and she will rub against your hand and purr and purr and purr while being petted. She could possibly be an awesome lap cat in a home where she felt loved and safe because she really loves the attention.
Petal has a darling face and very pretty markings. She is a tabby with little spots of reddish brown on her back and sides. She would make an excellent companion for older adults in a home where she is the only cat or where there is maybe one other quiet submissive cat. She is used to dogs and as long as they don’t bother her she ignores them. She has never been around children, but with her personality I don’t think that would be a good fit. I think kids would frighten her.

About St. Louis Pet Rescue

About Our Rescue Group...

St. Louis Pet Rescue is a non-profit rescue group focusing on saving pets from local animal control facilities and other neglect situations.

We do not have a facility. All of the pets we rescue are in loving foster homes. Foster homes provide love, care training, and, if needed, rehabilitation to the pets. This also allows the pet to be more adjusted when they enter their forever home since they are used to a home environment (versus a kennel at the pound).
