Tootsie is a gorgeous 10 month old 7.5lbs female Maltese or Havanese who came into the Shelter as a stray. She is a sweet, loveable and inquisitive little girl! Tootsie would get along with just about anyone - but prefers hanging out with people. She enjoys snugglng alongside you on the couch or sleeping next to you in bed. Tootsie would not do well crated - or alone for long periods. This amazing puppy is spayed, current on all vaccines and micro-chipped. She is not house trained - so you will need patience while while she is learning.

Toosie has been rescued under Friends of Chicago Animal Care and Control - fcacc.org - and her adoption will require an application, reference check, home visit and fee of $200. Tootsie is living in a foster home in Chicago - and only applications in the Chicagoland area will be considered. If you are interested in hearing more about Tootsie - please email her foster mom at fcacfoster@gmail.com.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Tootsie, a Chicago Maltese/Havanese dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Maltese/Havanese for sale in Chicago, or seeking a Maltese/Havanese dog from a breeder in Chicago.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Chicago already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Chicago breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Maltese/Havanese breeders who help with Maltese/Havanese rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Chicago paves the way for another one to be saved.
