Rigby's Story...
This handsome fella is Rigby. In the single year Rigby has been on this earth (June 2015), he has been through a lot! When he was pulled from the shelter, he had no use of his back legs. Because of his handicap, no one stepped up to save this poor guy. In the few hours before he was scheduled to be euthanized, we rushed to his rescue and pulled him minutes before be would have been put down. Once we got him, we were frantic! Our vet told us his leg problems were an old wound that had healed incorrectly, and it would require an expensive orthopedic surgery to correct. As we began to gather donations and sponsor money to pay for his surgery, Rigby decided to surprise us all and slowly began to walk again! Now, he has FULL USE of his back legs! Rigby is so thankful to be alive! He may not be the fastest pup in the race, but he loves the occasional lap around the back yard. Rigby is a very gentle soul, obviously humbled by his rescue. He is a sweetheart, and never meets a stranger, dog and human alike. Rigby is also great with kids, and doesn't mind the presence of cats. He is a big couch potato, and loves lounging around and getting attention. Rigby has a very special pup, and he deserves to live out the rest of his life in the best possible home!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Rigby, a Macon Labrador Retriever/American Bulldog dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Labrador Retriever/American Bulldog for sale in Macon, or seeking a Labrador Retriever/American Bulldog dog from a breeder in Macon.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Macon already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Macon breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Labrador Retriever/American Bulldog breeders who help with Labrador Retriever/American Bulldog rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Macon paves the way for another one to be saved.
