GLEE-R.I.P. 6/08/11's Story...
Glee is a beautiful jet black Cocker Spaniel roughly 8-10 years old. Despite the fact that she has clearly experienced very little joy in life, we christened her Glee with the expectation that she will at long last become a happy girl. Glee came to us from Brooklyn Animal Care and Control several months ago, having been turned in as a stray. Her condition was among the worst of any dog who has ever passed through our rescue. She had an enormous dark mammary tumor weighing several pounds covering her entire abdomen; because it had become so large that it was now dragging on the ground, it actually burst, and Glee began to bleed profusely. Her eyes were also affected by glaucoma so severe that they were literally bulging out of her head, rendering her blind. While we initially questioned whether any treatment should be attempted at all, our vet ran some tests and found that the tumor, though malignant, appeared to be self-contained. A chest xray showed no signs of it having spread to the lungs and he was able to remove it cleanly. We subsequently took Glee to an opthalmologist, who injected both eyes in order to relieve the excruciating pressure she was experiencing. The swelling is now radically reduced, as is Glee's discomfort. She is visibly calmer and happier now. Glee has recently had a dental. She is current on all shots and has tested negative for heartworm. Although she is blind, Glee gets around well and thus far appears to be a reasonably healthy girl. All she needs now to make her life complete is a place to call home. If you would like to foster Glee or adopt her into your family, please email rescue@nyabandonedangels.com and request an application. She is sure to bring some Glee into your home and heart. Please consider making a tax-deductible donation towards Glee's care to paypal recipient address donation@nyabandonedangels.com or by check payable to Abandoned Angels, which can be sent to PO Box 545426, Flushing, NY 11354. Glee thanks you from the bottom of her heart.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

GLEE-R.I.P. 6/08/11, a Flushing Cocker Spaniel dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Cocker Spaniel for sale in Flushing, or seeking a Cocker Spaniel dog from a breeder in Flushing.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Flushing already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Flushing breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Cocker Spaniel breeders who help with Cocker Spaniel rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Flushing paves the way for another one to be saved.
