Sandy's Story...

Look who just came in from the storm ... meet Sandy, an 8 week old female Shih Tzu puppy. On the eve of the Hurricane, this adorable baby was found in a cardboard box, abandoned with her three other siblings, all of whom found themselves at Animal Care and Control. In the emergency of the Hurricane, each puppy was quickly placed with a different rescue to ensure that they were safe. Sandy is a healthy puppy who is full of typical puppy fun. Now that things have blown over, she is ready to begin life in happy home. As she is still too young for surgery, Sandy will be adopted out on the basis of a spay contract and must come back to us at the age of four months for her procedure. If you would like to adopt Sandy, please email rescue@nyabandonedangels.com and request an application. The Hurricane may be over, but Sandy is ready to storm your heart.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Sandy, a Flushing Shih Tzu puppy was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Shih Tzu for sale in Flushing, or seeking a Shih Tzu puppy from a breeder in Flushing.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Flushing already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Flushing breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Shih Tzu breeders who help with Shih Tzu rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Flushing paves the way for another one to be saved.
