Little Blackie is thanking his lucky stars these days that he is safe and taken care of. That wasn't always the case for this 3 year old shih tzu who came to us from our Newark facility. Blackie was removed from his former home by Animal Control because he was being neglected terribly. Blackie was severely emaciated and was terribly matted and dirty. He spent some time getting well, getting lots of good meals and TLC, and getting all cleaned up, now Blackie is ready to start over. Blackie is a little shy upon meeting new people and can even exhibit some shih-tzu-a-tude from time to time, but once he gets to know you, he'll mush against your leg, flop on his back, and ask you for a belly rub. He simply adores people however, you will need to earn his trust. Blackie can be a little lovebug and he is very well behaved too. He walks like a perfect gentleman on a leash, takes treats very gently, and will sit nicely when asked. He is young and playful too, and loves toys. Blackie will need a home with no children under 10, but doesn't seem to mind other dogs. Please consider opening your heart and home to our little friend Blackie. File#24469 3/3/15
