Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Tom Sawyer. He's a one year old American Bulldog/Boxer mix that was recently adopted and returned. The family really had nothing but good things to say about Tom but he had one incident that prompted his return. He had an encounter with a Chihuahua. It's best if Tom were an only pet. He was great with his house training and commands. Tom even took commands from the 6 year old in the family. This boy loves to snuggle and would either sleep in his crate or on the floor at night. Owner reports he was great in every way, but was forced to return Tom when the landlord found out about the incident. Tom is now receiving extra guidance and training at the Grafton Correctional Institute. He'll return in a few weeks a more well rounded canine.
On April 02, 2015, Tom Sawyer was selected to be one of Friendship's Prison Dogs. He is currently undergoing training at the Grafton Correctional Institution. Prison Dogs are trained in obedience, basic commands, manners and proper leash walking. He will spend approximately 12 weeks at the prison.
If you are interested in adopting this prison dog, adoption applications are now being accepted. If you live close, please hand deliver the app to Friendship. Distant applicants can call the shelter and ask to fax one in. Prison dogs return on an individual basis. The staff does not know exactly when that will be. Any questions, please contact the shelter at 440-322-4321. Or email at adoptions@friendshipapl.org.
