My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

"I know it sounds corny, man, but I like to bring folks joy, and I like to have a good time. I know folks like to be with somebody who's having a good time. You sure as he** don't want to be with somebody who's having a bad day." - Wolfman Jack
Yeah Man!!! That's exactly what our Jack would probably say if he could talk! Jack is a pretty awesome dude dog. This sweet boy is around a year old. He is a gorgeous tan retriever mix (foster mom believes he may have some Rhodesian Ridgeback in him as well). He currently weighs 57 lbs but is a bit on the thin side. After a few hamburgers (we are kidding of course) he should be upwards of 60 to 65 lbs as a healthy weight. Jack loves to have a good time. He plays fetch with any available toy. So couch potatoes beware he's going to need some exercise (don't we all though?). Jack is described as being a big boy with a gentle way about him. He is a bit of a jumper right now but is learning this is a no no. He is wonderful with adults and kids but older kids are advisable due to his youth and strength (even though he is gentle). He is strong on leash but listens very well to commands. Jack is super smart and picks up on things pretty quick. He has learned how to jump over agility equipment in his foster home, taught by an older dog savvy child. His foster mom believes his training can go very far in a home willing to work with him. Jack is doing well with house training (he's learning quickly how to be an indoor dog) and he is crate trained. Jack gets along great with other dogs but he is little too interested in cats, so according to foster mom probably not advisable. He tends to use his mouth like another hand when trying to get attention. He is learning this is not quite acceptable and he 'gets it'. Jack has gone from being a neglected abandoned boy to shelter dog to foster dog so he has come so very far. He has only been in foster for a short time so the fact that he has learned so much in such a small span of time just goes to show how very smart and eager to please this big sweet boy is. Jack is already neutered, up to date on all vaccinations, and current on all preventatives. We find absolutely nothing corny about being a happy boy wanting to bring joy to all he meets. If you are ready to have fun and truly explore how far you can go into training this intelligent young pooch then we think Jack would be a perfect match for your forever loving home.
