"Sunshine" is a yellow Labrador Retriever mix who came to us from San Antonio. She survived a whole summer living on the streets of S.A. until she finally got hit by a car and took refuge in the back yard of Mr. & Mrs. Perales. Shortly afterward Sunshine had a litter of nine puppies. The Perales family wasn't able to find any rescues in San Antonio to take Sunshine or her babies, and animal control would not pick her up. As a last resort, Etosha was called to rescue Sunshine and her pups. Lab Med and the Mosby Foundation took care of Sunshine's spay and hip surgery and we took care of her heartworm treatment. Sunshine's kids all found good homes, but she's still waiting for a family to call her own. She's a high energy girl and now able to run and jump thanks to Dr. Sullivan at Crossroads Veterinary Hospital in Seguin. Sunshine is looking for a forever home with a fenced yard, another Labrador to play with, children over six years old, and a warm bed indoors during cold weather. She is okay with other dogs but no cats please.

About Etosha Rescue & Adoption Center

About Our Shelter...

Our mission is to rescue, rehabilitate and find the best homes available for our dogs and cats. Adoptable pets are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, micro-chipped and free of disease (including heartworms) prior to adoption. Dogs receive basic obedience training as well as socialization through the Etosha Foster Care Program. We promote state-wide educational events which focus on the importance of spaying or neutering, humane treatment for all animals, and workshops to teach children the basics of responsible pet ownership. Etosha is dedicated to maintaining a high success rate (about ninety-five percent) for placing companion animals in forever homes. We achieve this by carefully screening prospective adopters and knowing which dogs or cats are most likely to be a good match for them.

Come Meet Our Pets...

We ask that visitors first call to make an appointment to come to the shelter to meet our animals at 830-401-0150.

Our Adoption Process...

Adopters must first fill out an adoption application, available on our website at We check references and do a home visit. If everything checks out we require signature on an adoption contract and an adoption fee.
