Lexi's Story...
Meet the beautiful and sweet Lexi! She is a 8-month old female beagle/lab mix with gorgeous green eyes. Lexi loves other dogs and is playful and friendly. She is initially timid with new people, but we expect that to change with her training and as she develops more confidence with her new loving adopting family. Lexi was a recent graduate in the DAWGS in prison program. The DAWGS in prison program is an 8-week intensive training program in a work camp setting. Each dog has a handler, caretaker and trainer. All are inmates who are well trained themselves and dedicated to their dogs' success. Graduates of the program are crate trained, housetrained, walk well on a leash, and know many commands like sit, stay, come, and down. Lexi has mastered her commands and is currently living in a foster home. Applications for Lexie are available online at www.dawgsinprison.com. You can also call Sandi @ 850-229-1431.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Lexi, a Port St. Joe Beagle/Labrador Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Beagle/Labrador Retriever for sale in Port St. Joe, or seeking a Beagle/Labrador Retriever dog from a breeder in Port St. Joe.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Port St. Joe already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Port St. Joe breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Beagle/Labrador Retriever breeders who help with Beagle/Labrador Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Port St. Joe paves the way for another one to be saved.
