Jade's Story...
Meet Jade- a beautiful, pure breed 2-yr. old Basenji. Jade was surrendered to our humane society when her mother of two years had to pick up a second job- working day & night, she no longer had the time to care for Jade. Jade is a very bright dog with lots of potential! Because of her aloof personality, Jade would need a household without younger children. Jade does get along well with other dogs, so would do fine with another canine brother or sister. All pets adopted from SJBHS are spayed/neutered prior to adoption, receive monthly heartworm & flea/tick preventative, and are current on vaccinations. If you would like to adopt Jade, please contact us at 850-227-1103, ask for Melody. You may also go to our website, www.sjbhumanesociety.org and complete an adoption application. Applications can be emailed to townsend.hsdirector@gmail.com or faxed to 850-227-1191.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Jade, a Port St. Joe Basenji dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Basenji for sale in Port St. Joe, or seeking a Basenji dog from a breeder in Port St. Joe.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Port St. Joe already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Port St. Joe breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Basenji breeders who help with Basenji rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Port St. Joe paves the way for another one to be saved.
