Here's what the humans have to say about me:
My name is Colby3. I am about 8 years old and I weight 78 lbs. It was a ‘hard-knock life’ for me until SCLRR came to my rescue at a local shelter. My rescuers say that whoever dumped me at the shelter did me a HUGE favor. I was totally neglected and in very poor condition because of lack of care. I had a very dirty dry coat, broken calluses on my elbows, yeast infections on my skin, pressure points and sores on my behind, and hair loss in a few places. In addition I also had a large benign growth that needed to be removed. I was also a bit stiff but now that I started my medication for arthritis I am feeling much better. Just throw me that tennis ball and I will show you what I can do, I am a true retriever!!!. I am still healing, so you will need to be patient with me when I get tired after a long walk. I promise all the efforts you put into my rehabilitation will be worth your while. I will be your best friend forever.
I truly feel like I am a new guy now. I have been given a complete makeover since I came into SCLRR. I have had blood tests, several medicated baths, dental cleaning, and lump removal, etc. My foster mom says that I am a big handsome, 8 year old young man who is finally enjoying his life. My fur is now shiny and soft, thanks to the care of my foster family.
Now that I am healthy I am ready to find my own family to love and would love to live happily ever after with them. I love people, I love dogs and I even think I might like cats. I have not been tested with cats but my foster mom seems to think that I would do OK with cats too. I am very respectful of your home. I am extremely low maintenance. I am completely trustworthy in the house; I do not have bad habits like chewing, stealing things, and I do not go to the bathroom in the house. I get along with everyone, other dogs and children. It is because I looove everyone!!! I love riding in a car and going for walks and chasing a ball and sniffing the grass. All these experiences were missing from my life for a long time, so I appreciate them now, more than ever.
If you think you have room in your life and your heart for a big, happy dog, please come to meet me. I am looking forward to finding my forever family. My foster mom thinks I will make a wonderful addition to a family who will spoil and love me. In return, I promise you I will spend every day showing you how grateful and appreciative I am.
