Louise's Story...
Louise was born on Feb. 5 and she just couldn't be cuter. It is astounding just how smart puppies can be. Since her siblings have been adopted, she has been running with the big boys and she loves it. Up and down a flight of stairs, no problem. Wood floors, do some dogs have trouble with that? Not her. Sleep
through the night? Of course. Housebreaking? She hasn't had an accident since the last of her brothers left. She has slept in a crate, but she is doing so well that tonight she gets to try the big girl bed. She even waits to let me go first
out the door or down the stairs. How cool is that? She loves to play with her "Uncle Gromit" but has the smarts to leave grumpy "Grandpa" alone. She thought that the cats looked like promising playmates, however they have declined the invitation and she is good with that. We have worked a little on leash training and she just needs a little more stamina to perfect her technique. Her golden mom is Liberty, she came to GRFR as spayed. She turned out to be
pregnant and we don't know who the father (s) are. She is a medium energy dog and will make a great pet.

Please remember that GRFR adopts puppies to forever families who have sufficient time at home to socialize, house train and nurture their new puppy. Also note: puppies should not leave your yard or be exposed to any other dogs unless you are certain that such other dogs have been fully vaccinated and are older than six months. They should not go to parks or PetSmart or anywhere else until they have their last booster shot, as they could contract a potentially lethal virus. Before taking your puppy to puppy class please discuss vaccination requirements for various classes with your trainer or vet. Puppies often need a few dewormers and we encourage you to discuss this with your vet. For more information, please take a look at www.goldenretrieverfreedom.org. Please review the adoption requirements before submitting an online application.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Louise, a Denver Golden Retriever puppy was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Golden Retriever for sale in Denver, or seeking a Golden Retriever puppy from a breeder in Denver.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Denver already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Denver breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Golden Retriever breeders who help with Golden Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Denver paves the way for another one to be saved.
