My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Teddy is a big bear of a dog, a handsome boy with a shiny black wavy coat. He is 2-3 years old and weighs about 70 lbs. He most resembles a mix of Chow and Flat-coated retriever. Appearance UPDATE: Recently Teddy received a major haircut to manage some mats in his fur (see newest photo), so when you meet him in person you will have to use your imagination.

Teddy was timid at the shelter, so hadn’t been placed in the adoptable ward. However, shelter volunteers saw a dog that wanted to be friendly and put out a call for rescue. Teddy is now safely in Dusty Paw foster care in a place where he can be observed interacting with a wide variety of dogs.

Teddy can get along with most male dogs, but not all of them. He is at his best behavior with the females. For this reason, we feel Teddy should be either the only dog in your home or a companion for a female dog. We don’t know how he is with cats.

Teddy’s foster dad notes that he has a Chow personality. He is very loving and bonds quickly with people. He will bond with his new person within a day. Teddy appears to be more comfortable with women than with men, but should be ok with men and children with proper introductions.

Teddy is house-trained and can be left alone without becoming destructive. He is not a high energy dog, but does need a good walk twice a day.
