Avery's Story...
Introducing Avery. Sweet Avery was living, with 14 other dogs, in an abandoned house in Memphis. Someone driving by the house noticed the dogs and called the police. All of the animals were taken to Memphis Animal Services (aka the city's pound.) Clearly Avery's living conditions were deplorable, and sadly she went from a hard life, to a life in serious danger of being ended. Memphis Animal Services gave the dogs their typically short deadline to be adopted or euthanized.

Here is her story as it aired on Memphis news...http://www.localmemphis.com/story/d/story/news-local-story-15-Dogs-Found-At-Abandoned-Home/0ZVv-jdDX0Cb_aNuF5f_-Q

We first met Avery when she was sitting in the back of her kennel....with a cold. Unfortunately the sweet girl had gotten kennel cough and her time became extremely limited. We knew she had to be adopted ASAP or her's would be a sad ending to an already hard life. Before doing her paperwork, we took her outside so she could stretch her legs and play a little. To say that she was happy to be out of her kennel would be a major understatement.

We returned to the the lobby with Avery to complete her paperwork. What we saw next left us all in tears. As we sat with her, waiting our turn at the adoption window, she climbed up into one of our laps, leaned in and closed her eyes. And there sweet Avery stayed...eyes closed, quiet and completely still. This is what gratitude looks like on the face of a dog.

Avery is now living in a loving foster home. She is healthy and happy and ready to join her forever home. She is the definition of rescue...a sweet dog who had an unfair start in life and so richly deserved a second chance to have a happy life and a family who deserves her love. We are so proud to have her.

Avery's adoption fee is $500 and includes vaccinations, 6 month pro-heart injection (heartworm prevention), spay surgery, microchip, health certificate and transportation from Memphis area to your area. Please contact us if you are interested in this sweet girl.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Avery, a Rochester Labrador Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Labrador Retriever for sale in Rochester, or seeking a Labrador Retriever dog from a breeder in Rochester.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Rochester already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Rochester breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Labrador Retriever breeders who help with Labrador Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Rochester paves the way for another one to be saved.
