My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Little Lu Lu needs lots of loving! She found her self at the shelter which was a very scary place! She had obviously not been taken care of and must have been terribly matted because she had to be totally shaved! Another definite sign that she was not well taken care of is the unfortunate fact that she is heartworm positive. On a positive note, she is asymptomatic for heartworms so we are handling this by keeping her on an Ivermectin based heartworm prevention until she tests negative for heartworms, which should be within 1-2 years (or less). Once she tests negative she will no longer have any restrictions as to what type of heartworm prevention she can use. In spite of all this neglect, she is a most loving little girl that adores sitting in your lap and snuggling. Lu Lu is an 18 month old schnoodle (schnauzer/poodle) with a beautiful opalescent dapple silver color. She weighs about 12 pounds and needs to put on about 3-5 more pounds so her little back bone doesn’t stick out so much. Lu Lu is well socialized, loves other dogs, rides well in a car, walks well on a leash and wants to be near people, preferably sitting in your lap. The first step in the adoption process is to fill out an online adoption application. You can find a copy of that application here. We sometimes receive a lot of interest on an animal and can't always reply to each email in a timely manner. An application does not obligate you to adopt from us, but it does show that you are serious about the adoption process. Please remember we are all volunteers.

After you submit your application please allow a few days for a volunteer to review your application. During this time your vet reference will be checked and a volunteer with determine if it is the best match for you and the animal. Applications are not approved on a first come, first serve basis. We match up the best home for the animal, so even if the pet has other applications, this does not meet he/she will be adopted to that home.

Once your application has been approved a volunteer with contact you to set up a phone interview. This is the perfect time for you to ask any questions you have about the adoption process and the animal you are interested in.
